Wildcat Wrestling Team History

High Point Regional was established in 1963 and competes in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NWNJAC), a conference comprised of high schools located in Sussex, Morris and Warren Counties.  The league operates under the auspices of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA), the statewide organization for high school sports.

High Point won its first ever state wrestling championship and was named the #1 Team in New Jersey in 2008, after beating Sayreville War Memorial High School, 63-3.  Prior to that time, the team, had established notoriety by dominating the NJ Group III North I State Section, winning the title 19 times from 1983-2008, with four more titles consecutively from 2010-2013..

The wrestling team won its first ever wrestling championship of any kind back in 1974, as members of the old Skyline Conference and repeated in 1975.  In 1976, upon joining the Sussex County Interscholastic League (SCIL), they won the League title 12 times from its inception to the last year of the league's existence in 2009.

In 2011, they won their second Group III State Championship and were again declared the #1 Team in New Jersey.  In 2013 and 2014, the team won its 3rd and 4th State Championships after returning to Group II.
